In collaboration with community partners, funders, and professional service providers the North Central Washington Economic Development District will create an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem through a new Business Launch Competition to be known as "Supernova"! The Supernova Business Launch Competition seeks to address regional challenges by identifying and supporting new and expanding businesses in North Central Washington (NCW), that will hire at least 10% of their workforce from populations with barriers to employment. Additionally, bonus consideration will be given to businesses whose practices, products, or services address growth of target industries, improvements in affordable workforce housing and/or education outcomes, access to affordable & nutritious foods, and access to transportation.
As a valued community partner we are writing to ask for your support with the Supernova BLC. The Main Event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday the 11th of June, 2020, at the B.P.O.E Grand Ballroom.
Project Description The Supernova Business Launch Competition seeks to address these regional challenges by identifying and supporting new and expanding businesses in NCW,
Supernova BLC, with regional support from community organizations, funders, and professional services
providers, will create an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Fundamentally, Supernova BLC will spark small business development in our
communities, with an intentional focus on how businesses can help alleviate some of the
stressors undermining the social determinants of health in North Central Washington. Whereas
GWATA’s Flywheel Conference focuses on identifying Washington companies that can scale up
quickly and profitably with venture capital assistance, Supernova focuses on identifying small
businesses that can thrive on our Main Streets, with the assistance and ingenuity of our residents
- regardless of the barriers they may have.
